What every response carries
No response returns a figure without its source, its vintage, and what it cannot tell you. An API that returns {"licensed_in": 43} has stripped the thing that makes 43 meaningful — 43 of the 54 jurisdictions the register actually holds, matched on a SOC code, from a 2024 snapshot.
So every payload carries a `sources` array, every count with a denominator carries it, and `gaps` is present even when empty rather than omitted when there is nothing to say. A consumer who cannot see the caveat will publish the number without it, and that would be our fault.
Terms
Five of six sources are United States federal government work, public domain under 17 U.S.C. §105 — freely usable, redistributable and resaleable, including commercially.
Licence data derives from CareerOneStop, sponsored by the US Department of Labor, and is supplied on condition that it remains publicly available at no cost and without a log-in. Attribute it if you republish it.
Do not strip the gaps and intervals when quoting a figure. The caveats are the product.
