RootOptics publishes research computed from United States federal public records, and scored judgements produced by software. It is NOT investment advice, legal advice, tax advice, accounting advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, start, or close any business.

No figure on this site is a prediction about your business. Industry-level statistics describe an industry; they say nothing about whether a particular venture within it will succeed or fail. Licence information is a starting point for your own enquiry with the relevant jurisdiction, not a determination of what you personally are required to hold.

Decisions made on the basis of anything published here are yours.

Every figure names its source and its vintage, and gaps are stated rather than filled. We do not estimate values we do not hold, and where a dimension has no evidence it is left unscored rather than guessed.

That is a description of method, not a warranty. Public data contains errors, is suppressed in places, and goes out of date. We publish our own defects at /library/failures for exactly this reason. The site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind.

Read it, quote it, and build on it. The overwhelming majority of the underlying data is United States federal government work in the public domain, and we claim no rights over facts.

The occupational licence register is supplied under an agreement requiring it to remain free, public, and available without a log-in. It always will be here. See /attribution.

Do not represent our output as your own underwriting, and do not remove the gaps and intervals when quoting a figure — the caveats are the product.
